The true advantage digital slrs have over traditional film and rangefinders is macro capability --- I miss doing some macro work, but then... That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet...

I think an Epson rd-1 might be the avenue I would go if I were to go digital - or maybe one of these new forthcoming digitals will be a high mp rangefinder (sigma or fuji or some such) - except for the constant state of flux of the digital and computer industry - every digital camera is obsolete in 6 months -- I find myself not willing to sink huge sums into something that will bear replacing in a short period of time.

I would be all over a digital Leica m3 - same hard durable construction -- same last forever characteristiscs... My Leica M3 has a production date of 1959... 50 years old and still handles perfectly -- where will all these Leica M8's be in 50 years? Will they still show the world through magenta colored glasses? Will there be film available in the next few years? Many mom and pop photo labs have quit business and their shelves run bare.

I survived my 37th birthday and still walk away feeling like a fish out of water. I used to do quite a bit of stock photography, but no way would I dare venture into that end of the business nowadays. High risk and no rewards... The internet has killed this business pretty much absolutely.

It saddens me to watch a craft be minimalized by electronic pixels -- everything in the digital word feels so... sterile and manipulated... I will continue to shoot film as long as the basics of my craft are available.
